19 Dec IMPRESSIONS PT. II: Unearthing Identity
May 2, 2024-August 31, 2024
Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art is excited to present Impressions Pt. II: Unearthing Identity, a group exhibition featuring works in painting, ceramics, and printmaking by three recent graduates of Queens University (Charlotte, NC): Kathleen Echevarria, Theresa Nguyen, and Madison Webster. Impressions Pt. II: Unearthing Identity will be the continuation and second installment of Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art’s Impressions exhibition series, founded in 2023.
Exploring themes of identity, playfulness, inevitable change, and the inner child, the artists present a body of work steeped in nostalgia and curiosity. Through their respective mediums, each artist provides us with a visual tool to unearth long lost versions of ourselves and revisit the parts of ourselves that we’ve tucked away over time.
Impressions Pt. II: Unearthing Identity offers a moment of youthful respite, permission to play, and soulful introspection.
Impressions is a community-centric, invitational exhibition series dedicated to the artistic voices of recent graduates of regional colleges and universities. Designed as a spinoff of the gallery’s recent Disrupting the Matrix: Impressions exhibition (which highlighted works in printmaking by recent graduates of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte), Impressions presents a modified platform that is open to all mediums. Through the Impressions exhibition series, Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art aims to provide young and emerging artists with valuable hands-on access to professional art world practices, gallerist mentorship, and CV-building exhibition opportunities.
