07 Jun SEDUCTION
June 25, 2022 – September 3, 2022
Featuring: Marlene Rose, Jill Jones and Cynthia Flaxman Frank
Seduction: where the internal confronts the external and intention reaches its summit. Beginning June 25th, 2022, Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art presents Seduction featuring Cynthia Flaxman Frank, Jill Jones and Marlene Rose. These three artists invite us to yield to our desires and be lulled into the submissive powers of both two dimensional and three dimensional art. Using motifs that are explicit nods to nature, each artist’s work challenges us to examine the inexplicable beauty that occurs innately, but also to consider the artist’s hand in intentionally creating beauty with the purpose of enticing an audience. The mysterious allure of Rose’s ancient sand cast glass technique; the instinctive movement in Jones’ snapshots of nature; the energizing breadth of Frank’s fresh palette of florals: elements each emphasizing the very idea that curiosity is not only what can drive an artist to create, but is the light of the flame by which the audience is seduced.
