The creative process – artist to art object – filters through the artist’s mental lens tinted by her life experience, training, spirituality, and so on. For me, creative inspiration is circular, beginning with the stone, through me and my “stuff”, and then back into the stone.

AVAILABLE WORKS
Sculptor Ruth Burink takes her inspiration from the natural world. She creates graceful, imaginative, and powerful works in stone, bronze and wood in forms which reveal the essence of, rather than the literal interpretation of, the images which inspire her. Ruth sculpts both abstract and figurative contemporary works, with a strong commitment to beauty of form, and meticulous attention to detail.
Originally from Colorado, Ruth now resides in San Antonio, Texas, where she carves and polishes in her downtown studio. She has been awarded the Lyn Belisle Prize by the San Antonio Art League, the Best of Show Award for body of work at the Stone Sculpture Showcase in Denver, Colorado, and was a Candidate for the Rome Prize in Visual Art. Ruth is also the recipient of a Kittredge Educational Fund Grant. Her sculptures are installed in several public art spaces in Colorado and Texas, and her work is in many private collections.
