09 Aug re:LOCATE
September 13, 2024 – November 23, 2024
Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art is thrilled to announce re:LOCATE, the gallery’s first solo exhibition of Charlotte-based artist Carla Aaron-Lopez. Inspired primarily by sound and color, the paintings featured in re:LOCATE transport viewers to a brand new world of the artist’s own making — a world where societal labels, political upheavals, and identity are powerless to limit the freedom of creative practice. Through expressive color play and abstracted lyrical text, Aaron-Lopez asks the question: if you didn’t have to respond to the labels placed on you by society, what would you see?
re:LOCATE will open with a public reception on Friday, September 13, from 6 – 8 PM, and will be on view through Saturday, November 23, 2024.
An Artist Reflection featuring Carla Aaron-Lopez and artists from concurrent exhibitions, Recalibrate and Being Human, will be held at 7 PM during the opening reception.
